Happy Anni-freakin-versary...

Well, this past weekend we celebrated our Anniversary Uno! Fortunately, we decided to make it a whole weekend thing instead of just celebrating today, Monday, because Jeff would have to work and I was supposed to go to school. Saturday and Sunday were pretty good. We went out to Gumbo's which is the place we went right after Jeff proposed to me, we went shopping and bought an omlet pan and apx 60 books (not exaggerating at all, luckily most were $1)... we went a little nuts. Also, my favorite purchase of the weekend, my new Sony Cyber-shot:

She's a beauty, isn't she? Got her for $109 dollars because they couldn't get rid of the pink ones... and they had several only in pink. Only they didn't know that I really, secretly, wanted the pink one... if for no other reason than because Jeff was vehemently against a pink camera! muahaha! The best part is that I had a gift card for $100, and Jeff had a gift card for $100, and another gift card with a smaller amount on it... so we got the camera, a memory card, a carrying case, and a video game without spending one dime of our own! woohoo thanks Mom and Dad merry christmas to us! And now a posting of a few of the photos I have taken with my new love:

As you can see the last picture I took is of my newest anniversary gift... prescription meds to cure my new lung disease. I am not sure what I have exactly but it's basically a lung infection that isn't as bad as bronchitis but could turn into it if I don't watch it. I found out that what I thought was just a minor cough was pretty serious today when I tried to do Aerobics, and 3 minutes into it couldn't breath. So I rushed to the Dr. and he said I'm supposed to take Amoxicillin to get rid of the infection, and the steroid Prednisone to turn myself into a big hairy man (I guess this helps your lungs get big and strong to avoid infection?). Unfortunately for those of you who were secretly excited to watch my slow transformation into a big hairy man, I will not be taking the Prednisone because I feel like the amoxicillin will do just fine. Inflamation schminflamation!!! But just for fun, here is a mock post-steroid photo of ME:

Weekend Update

Ahh... I'd like to start this post with a sigh of relief. Why? Well, last week I was going through extreme mood swings and lethargy. I literally had to drink a green tea a day just to get myself through the day. Luckily, I am back on my feet today and feeling great (although I did endulge myself in yet another green tea latte, I think I have a problem...)!

This weekend was really really awesome. I feel like it was good bonding time for Jeff and me. Friday night we had a date night, went out to eat at this French restaurant called Le Madelein (which was NOT very good by the way) by ourselves, came home and played a new game together, and ended up staying up till about 2 am laughing. Then Saturday morning we went and looked at 3 more houses, and decided that we liked 2 of them. We are deciding between those 2 and another 1 that I liked from before for which house we're going to put a bid on. Luckily it was a short and sweet tour of homes, and we were back home by 3. We then went to get sushi at our favorite little restaurant (Hayashi) which is always really tasty. Saturday night we went over to Jeff's parents house where Liz, Andrew, and Chris and Tom came over and we all watched this really weird movie which I forgot the title of already. It was kinda stupid though, so no need to remember the title, cause I won't ever be looking to watch it again. Sunday, Jeff and I decided to go look at those houses again so we could figure out which house we should buy. We still haven't made a decision but I'm rooting for the one in Georgetown cause it's a better neighborhood. The one I really don't want has creepy across-the-street neighbors that have been sitting in their garage staring at us both times we've visited the home. They don't look like people you want to be friends with either. However, that home is the least in need of fixing up, and it's cheaper, so I might end up having to deal with creepy neighbors for a few years. Ugh. Maybe we'll buy some really large shrubs. lol. Also, over the weekend, we bought Akira a new squeaky mouse that you hang from the door (she broke the last one)... it is a great source of entertainment to watch her try to attack this mouse. She keeps trying to squeak in mouse language, and the resulting chirp noise is sooooo hilarious. Also, the old mouse she broke (ripped it off the string and broke it's voice box) is now our new favorite toy for her to fetch. Not only is it easier for her to carry in her mouth, but I can throw that thing a lot farther since it's not made of lightweight foil stuff... awesome.

And with that, I just want to add that I am so happy that I have such a wonderful little family. I love them so much, and wouldn't trade the life I have now for anyone elses!

Ok... it just needs to stop...

Day 4 of hell week...

I can't seem to get out of this funk. It all started on Sunday with the house hunting, and the news that my Aunt Sherry might lose her foot because of cellulitis... The rest I've already blogged about, need I remind you of the cat pooping on my carpet?

Yes... so, I tried to start today out on the right foot, I had lots of energy at first... but by the end of aerobics, I was pooped. There seems to be a theme for the week I'm having... It's nothing really concrete, but my mental state has been different this week, I'm more tired, easily irritated, there is this muscle in my arm that won't stop twitching... I can't get my back handsprings to land right... and this is where my day took a turn for the worse.

So I start out first on the trampoline, and I just go for it, I jump back and land on my freakin head. Ok, I think to myself, first try, you were just a little out of practice, second backhandspring will be perfect! So I go for number 2... nope, worse... I land on my face this time and it hurts a little... so coach puts me in the belt of shame. For those of you who don't know what the belt of shame is, I'll explain it to you. It's kinda like a pully system that spots you so the coach doesn't have to. It's a belt (very thick and sturdy belt) attached to ropes on both sides, which lead to a pully system of ropes, which the spotter holds and maneuvers so you can't land on your head and kill yourself.

So I strap myself in, and I am going strong... I have my back handsprings down again, it's going better, and I think... ok, this day is not so bad. WRONG... 3 handsprings before I was finished, it all went wrong...

I get in position, crouch down and launch myself backwards, but as I do, the belt pushes my stomach in and out pops a FART. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO........... my heart sinks as I finish the backhandsprings, unable to look my spotter in the face, nor the croud of people waiting to use the trampoline. Maybe no one heard it? It wasn't that loud, it was more of a squeak than anything else... but... let me tell you, as soon as I got off that trampoline, I hit the ground, grabbed my backpack and left class early.

Anyway, at least I got the chance to go visit my aunt sherry in the hospital. She is doing much better and will go home tomorrow. I had fun with my aunts, Didi was there too. We laughed and talked about funny stuff. It was nice for me. And then I talked to my brother tonight and we had some good laughs about my trampoline fart, and I think tomorrow will be much better, because tonight I found out I don't have to take micro/cellular biology which means I got to drop it, and I am feeling awesome about that. LOVIN IT!!! Anyways, peace out yall, I'm tired.

Utah/Vegas Vacation!

So I know we took this trip almost a MONTH ago... however, I just got the 5 pictures I took developed lol, and decided to post a little about our trip to Vegas... I'll start with the trip to Utah, though...

We flew in to Utah on Saturday after going to my brother's graduation from boot camp in San Antonio. I had stayed up the whole night before talking to Valerie and catching up (which I will cherish forever because I love my sister more than anything!). When we got to Utah, we went straight to our lodgings at the Sky Lodge ... which were AWESOME!!! I won't brag too much about them, but I have to say they were above and beyond any accommadations I have ever experienced. Then, we went to Jeff's paternal grandmother's house. It was ok, I just sat around and talked to his aunt for a while and then we left, short and sweet. After that we went to Jeff's Mom's family reunion where I made a fool of myself by falling asleep at the table because I'd only gotten 2 hours of sleep the night before. Other than that it was fun, we played bingo and exchanged gifts with Jeff's mom's family, she has 11 siblings I believe. So it was a HUGE party. I won a Monopoly game, and then our family gift was Cranium and this CSI game. After the party, we went back to our awesome Sky Lounge and brought one of Jeff's best highschool friends, Mathew, and his wife with us. We stayed up even later and played games until we could no longer put sentences together. I think we played a card game, but honestly I was so tired I can't remember.

Finally we went to sleep, and I did not awaken from my sleep-deprived coma until the next day around noonish. We all decided to go look at the shops around Park City, and enjoyed ourselves very much. One of the most hilarious discoveries we found was in a fur shop. It was, brace yourselves, a FUR JOCK STRAP!!!!! As you can barely see, it also has a butt flap tail! And it was relatively cheap ($19.99)! AHAHA... almost bought it but couldn't bring myself to spend the money on a gag gift. The rest of the trip is kind of a blur we just went and visited people in Jeff's family and looked at shops and watched tv and got in our hot tub on the balcony... just random stuff. Although we did discover this one late night show called "bounty hunters" and it was awesome! Then Jeff's parents left us to fend for ourselves on our last day in Utah. So we took their rented Escalade after we dropped them at the airport, and we rolled out like high ballas! Jeff and I were staying at his friend Matt's house that night, but had nowhere to go that day, so we decided to go to the mall. We shopped around there for what felt like eternity, until I finally had the master plan to call up some of MY homies, whom I hadn't been able to see at all the whole trip, and get together. So I called up Melissa and thank goodness she answered her phone, and was free!

So we rolled over to Melissa's house, big pimpin in our escalade lol, and it was SO GREAT to see my girl! I love her! We laughed and recounted numerous stories of our devious ways as younger versions of ourselves, caught up on life, and just had a good time chatting. Then we took the Escalade on another trip to pick up her husband, Theron, and he joined in our fun and conversation. I have to say, this evening was probably the highlight of my trip for me. It was so great to see Melissa and Theron, to see that they were doing well and happy, and realize how much fun we could have together just sitting and talking. I wish we lived closer, because I could definately see Jeff and I hanging out with Melissa and Theron on a regular basis. Soon, Ali called and let us know she was in SLC, so we all jumped in the escalade and bling blinged our way (sorry I can't help myself when I talk about the escalade) over to The Pie. The Pie has many memories for us, especially Ali and me... so that was the obvious choice for dinner. I ran in and found Ali, and her new hubby Jed, and sat down and caught up. Ali looks great, so does Jed, they still have that newlywed glow about them! It was a really fun night having Melissa and Ali with me, like old times, only our lives RADICALLY different. We laughed and talked about future plans and old times and it just made me feel really happy to see everyone I have missed so much!

It makes me contemplate how radically different my life is now, and it's not a bad thing, but I do miss my time with the girls just being free and carefree, but I was also careless and somewhat selfish. So I am glad we have all matured and moved on the way we are meant to move on with our lives. It makes me proud of my friends and their accomplishments! And also mine!

So the next day we set off for Las Vegas!!!! It was so crazy, we got stranded in the air because it was SNOWING, which is unheard of! When we finally landed, we realized that cheap room we got was not actually on the strip but in a casino south of the strip. It was ok, though because our room was actually really nice, considering we paid less than what it normally costs to stay at Motel 6, and got a room worth at LEAST $100/night. Probably more, I'm not good at knowing what a hotel room is worth. So we got to our hotel and realized Taxi's are still ridiculous. We put our stuff away and decided to play one dollar each at a slot machine in our hotel. On our first try, I lost a dollar and Jeff won $25. So we decided we'd use that $25 and play one dollar at every casino we went to on the strip. Mainly we played penny slots, though. So we played a few more dollars and I ended up winning $20 more dollars on top of Jeff's now $20. So we had $40 to kill the next day. After that we went and got dinner and went to bed cause it was late and we were tired.

The next day we were dropped off at one of the first Casinos on the strip and started trekking. Unfortunately it was awefully cold outside so we weren't as keen on walking the strip as I usually am. We took the inside tunnels as often as possible. We went to the M&M factory, looked inside some of my favorite Casinos at the shops (like the Venetian, Paris, etc) and Jeff repeatedly turned down my pleas to buy things lol. Near the M&M factory we found a half-price ticket place that sells last minute seats to shows. We got tickets to Cirque du Soleil's KA, and wen't that evening. It was AMAZING!!! I LOVED every minute of that show! Jeff was going nuts about the architecture, and the moving stage, which was incredibly impressive, I loved the special effects and the acrobatics of the whole thing! AWESOME show... I recommend it to everyone who goes to Vegas! I'd say it was the highlight of our trip.

A few days into it, we were ready to go, and it was a great trip, but Vegas was kind of dead due to the economy. So... all in all, we had the most fun of the trip with friends in Utah, and at the Cirque du Soleil. I also very much enjoyed my time with Jeff, I love him so much, he's my boy and I had fun on our second alone vacation ever!

Here we are playing the big slot machine...

Most of the photos we got were at the M&M factory...

This was one of our favorite GAUDY stores... holy crap... look at my throne!

This Coming Vacation... ruined plans lead to happy rewards!!!

I'm noticing a trend with some of Jeff's Utah peeps... we continually get flaked on. As I wrote in an earlier episode, we were supposed to fly to Utah (one-way tickets were purchased) and go to the family reunion and pick up Jeff's broncho, which his Uncle PROMISED would be done in a WEEK a few weeks ago. Come to find out, his broncho will NOT be done, and we will be stranded forever in the depths of Park City... just kidding. Last notice, I almost had to fork up another $500 at LEAST to get us home, but due to my mother's bargain-feind blood line, I managed to find us two airline tickets costing only $220 after taxes and everything! Best part... we're flying out of Vegas... which means...

VEGAS VACATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so excited! We're going to stay in a 4 star hotel which I also got cheap prices on ($53 a night) because I am awesome. Definately going to walk the strip, dance in the clubs, and avoid gambling cause we don't roll like that. I am soooo excited! Not only will this be our first vacation since our honeymoon where we are actually alone together, but we will be erasing bad memories of past Vegas disasters. Cause I really like Vegas and don't wanna hold those memories against it. I mean, honestly, when we went to Utah for Ali's wedding and got flaked on by Jeff's childhood best friend, we ended up having to stay in a crappy motel 8 and it cost us more than this 4 star awesome hotel! This vacation is now well planned. Unfortunately that means no going to Denver to see my parents or Jeff's brother Chris. We might try going out there at the end of the month but so far no cheap tickets.

***foot note**** anyone wanting to join us in Vegas for a good time, please email or text me, friends are invited but you'll have to get your own room :p

***other foot note*** for those of you wondering where I found the best deals: expedia.com, hotwire.com... I checked all the sites I could find and these were the fairest
